Bio: Lou Martins
Lou Martins is a Portuguese Sagittarian who co-founded Lovecraft tattoo in New Haven, Connecticut before moving to Portland, Oregon in 2015. His tattoo designs are inspired by Art Deco, Cubism, Old Hollywood, and the Bauhaus and Arts and Crafts movements.
Nature is a favorite subject, whether animal, botanical, or human. Designs are characterized by bold, dynamic compositions and a clean, refined approach. The lines of the design often speak to the lines of the body.
My Story
"I'm honored to be a tattoo artist, it's an ancient calling that has always been a mixture of art, craft, and ritual. Tattooing rewards curiosity and imagination as well as technical virtuosity. Creatively, it keeps me on my toes. I appreciate the opportunity to meet so many beautiful folks from all different walks of life, and to dream together and create together. I'm honored by the trust that they put in me. I get to facilitate the catharsis and transformation that tattoos can bring on, to help people externalize what they are feeling inside.
